Week 1 / Game Review
Allen’s all-purpose command carries Buffalo past Houston in a wild opener
Buffalo won a back-and-forth season opener by pairing Josh Allen’s precision and goal-line finishing with a concentrated receiving attack. Houston produced plenty of fantasy-relevant volume, but C.J. Stroud’s lost fumbles proved the decisive swing.

23.10Expected PPRJosh Allen authored the difference
Allen gave Buffalo both the aggressive passing game and the short-yardage finish. He threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, then added two rushing touchdowns. His 35.66 full-PPR points ran well ahead of his 23.10 expected total, a reminder that the rushing scores supplied the week-winning ceiling.
02 / The takeaway
8TargetsBuffalo’s passing tree had clear focal points
DJ Moore, Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir each saw six or more targets, while Moore supplied the primary downfield and scoring threat. Kincaid turned his opportunities into the most explosive yardage line of the group, making the early Buffalo attack look concentrated rather than broadly distributed.
03 / The takeaway
2.00Fumbles lost totalHouston’s offensive production could not survive the turnovers
Stroud moved the ball efficiently enough to support several usable skill players, but his two lost fumbles gave Buffalo the defining extra possessions. The Bills recovered two opponent fumbles, and the turnover margin separated otherwise productive offenses.
Allen was decisive through the air and at the goal line
Allen operated every Buffalo snap and consistently pushed the ball beyond the short area, recording five completions of at least twenty yards. His completion-over-expected figure and passing EPA support the quality of the passing performance, while his six carries preserved the familiar dual-threat path to elite fantasy outcomes. The lost fumble did not become a turnover, so it did not derail his otherwise clean result.
