Week 1 / Game Review
Cardinals seize control behind McBride, Brissett and a decisive defensive edge
Arizona’s composed passing structure and field-position game translated control into a road win, while Los Angeles found isolated playmaking but too little offensive continuity.
95 receiving yards · 34 routes

13TargetsTrey McBride was Arizona’s offensive fulcrum
This opening-game performance made McBride the clear center of Arizona’s aerial plan. He commanded the heaviest concentration of targets and air yards, consistently moved the chains, and supplied the passing touchdown. Jacoby Brissett’s willingness to return to the tight end created both a premium PPR result and the most stable weekly signal in this offense.
02 / The takeaway
1InterceptionsArizona’s clean offense and defense won the leverage moments
Brissett protected the football while Arizona’s defense created the game’s turnover advantage. The Cardinals complemented that work with a productive field-goal day from Chad Ryland, turning sustained possession into points even when drives did not end in touchdowns. That was a complete fantasy-friendly team outcome: reliable quarterback play, usable backfield output, a featured receiver, kicker volume and defensive disruption.
03 / The takeaway
7TargetsLos Angeles has a passing-game hierarchy to sort through
Ladd McConkey delivered the Chargers’ most valuable receiving line and remained the primary downfield and scoring threat. David Njoku was efficient in a shorter-area role, but the broader receiver room produced uneven conversion on its opportunities. That leaves McConkey’s involvement encouraging, while the surrounding target competition and quarterback efficiency require more evidence.
Brissett gives Arizona a controlled offensive foundation
Brissett’s fantasy finish was built more on calm distribution than explosive quarterback rushing. He completed a high-volume passing day without an interception, added a touchdown throw and stayed involved with designed or opportunistic ground production. The advanced passing indicators support the idea that this was a precise opening-game operation rather than a hollow box-score outcome. His pressure exposure was real, but Arizona kept the offense on schedule often enough to put its complementary pieces in scoring position.
